The provisional date for the 2012 Brian Robinson Challenge is Sunday 29 April. This is a massed-start sportive with closed roads for the first few miles and is only 78 miles long. With gentle climbs over Saddleworth Moor and Holme Moss it is ideal for beginners.

The Etape du Dales (112 miles of hell) is on Sunday 20 May 2012. Website will open for entries sometime in early January and fills up very quickly. Keith Lambert has moved the date a week forward from previous years in the search of better weather!!!

the white rose classic (previously yorkshires biggest and baddest sportive) is returning next year on 17th June. i intend to ride that, the ryedale rumble and richmond to try and improve on my misfortune there this year.
i might even to the etape du dales as well if it isn't the ridiculous 40quid i seem to think it is.

entered the tour of the peak they have moved date again to may 27

Etape du Dales was £40 this year and worth every penny - it is a terrific well-organised event with ambulances at the bottom of every descent (which this year were kept busy - especially by those suffering from hypothermia). So it may possibly cost even more next year!

Ilkley Cycling Club is excited to announce the revival of one of Yorkshire’s Primer Cycle Sportives – The White Rose Classic!
Firmly established as one of cyclo-sportives 'must-do' events, and a true classic in every sense of the word, the event is planned to take place on the 17 June 2012.
Offering you a choice of 3 challenging routes; 110 miles, 75 miles and 50 miles, and taking you through the heart of the stunning Yorkshire Dales, it really is a showcase event for the very best the beautiful Yorkshire Dales has to offer.
The event headquarters will be the fantastic new facility at Ilkley Rugby Club at the edge of Ilkley, providing changing and showering facilities, parking, food and drink.
Entries opening in the New Year, check out our website for more details: http://www.ilkleycyclingclub.org.uk

Looks a great sportive Steve. I have booked my travelodge already and will decide on the distance once the event opens in January. The 110 miles route looks unnecessarily brutal so I might opt for the 84 mile route which will still be at least as tough as the Big G.

haven looked at the course properly yet so not sure which route to do. May well do the long one to get my moneys worth! Have entered the long tour of peak route which is on may 27 and may do the polka dot again beginning of June. Any update re when entry opens for the Brian Robinson challenge is that date confirmed?

entry opens for the white rode classic on sunday. i intend to enter the 110m for now. i'd expect it to fill up pretty quickly.

[EDIT] entry through the BC website appears to have already opened
Posted 4 months ago # -
I'm going for the 110, looks like a challenging route and I've not cycled around those parts before. I have looked on BC cycling and have not previously joined, what level of membership do I need to race in the East Yorkshire Handicap League in 2012?
Posted 4 months ago # -
the handicapped league is run under TLI rules so it requires a different licence. you'll need one of these: http://tlicycling.org.uk/JoinRenew.aspx
i don't know how BC works qith regards enterring sportives on their website, i don't think you'll have to be a member

Thanks Gary - I've just had another look on BC site and there is no entry option at present, I'm guessing they have taken it off until 1st Jan as advertised.

David I noticed you'd enterred the ladies route for the white rose classic. I'm tempted by the Brian Robinson challenge, anyone else fancy a club trip?

Posted 4 months ago # -
Steve, you can change your mind closer to the event according to the site. Go for the 110 and it will motivate you more, if you don't feel up to it nearer the time you can drop down.

Posted 4 months ago # -
Cheers gary although for some reason its now showing correctly on my tablet will have to look at work. Am really looking forward to it seeing as dave has raved about it! just need to get fitness back up now. Rich ask dave about the etape!
Posted 4 months ago # -
i spoke to dave on a club run in oct and it sounds pretty epic, one of the reason i was determined to enter this year.. i did the colomba classic in nov in the dales and that was tough but only just over half the distance of the etape'.. Only started cycling last year and have found out the hard way on how far i can push myself! hopefully on track with turbo training, and starting to know my limits...i think

Anyone thinking of doing the etape' du dales its filling up quick already over the 500 mark for the alotted 1000 entrants.

The North Lincs Cyclosportive has been renamed - 'The Paul Kirk North Lincs Cyclosportive'
After the tragic loss of Paul Kirk during last years sportive we have renamed the event in his honour. Paul Kirk was a keen cyclist and charity fund raiser who sadly died during last years event from a previously unknown heart condition and we have seen it as a fitting tribute to him to permanently re-name the event. This years event will be held on the earlier date of 15th April so as not to clash with other local events as unfortunately last years event did.
We promise much the same as last year, a well route marked course, feed stations (plenty of cake) and a friendly atmosphere. We also have improved timing methods.
The event is in aid of the same charity as last year - The Lindsey Lodge Hospice which was close to the heart of Paul Kirk. Last year from 140 entrants we raised £1024 for the hospice, this year I would like with your help to double the entrants at least and therefore double the money raised. With this in mind if everybody who entered last year brings someone with them that didn't do it last year, we will have managed to double the entrants.
Entry is available from this website - http://point7.co.uk/eventy-registration?ee=7
Anyone wanting postal entry forms or parental consent forms please contact me directly and I will forward them on to you.
Happy Training
Matt Porter
ps If you can advertise the event anywhere, work, school, gyms, pub? please print off the attached poster
anyone fancy this? Its close to home, so probably worth doing..
