Tough but steady sounds good to me. Winter bike for me I'm afraid, not totally happy with position on best bike yet.

Ride story?
Dr Dave? Hope he's okay.Posted 2 months ago # -
David and Sam tangled just outside leisure centre resulting in David falling hard on his elbow. Should be OK but was sufficiently banged to make him turn back @ Nunburnholme. Hope it gets well soon. Davids new ultra light machine was undamaged and does indeed look very tidy.
Rest of us were lucky enough to have an excellent 70 miler in perfect conditions. Good grind up Grimston and as always the Thixendale road was a high speed delight. Paul R's usual solid form was undiminished by having collected 9 BC points the previous day.

Paul W & Paul R seemed to complete the ride with an effortless display, both looking in great form. Was nice to be out on our 'best rides' and as paul said conditions were otherwise perfect.

Sorry about my silly spill. I am glad it did not spoil what sounds to have been a great ride. I am so disappointed that I had to bale out early but the pain was pretty awful. This is explained by the displaced fracture in my elbow - radius or ulna I forgot to ask - could not tell which way up the x-ray was. I now have my left arm in pot (sod thing is that I am left handed) but may also need an operation to put some screws in or something - the dreaded hospital visit that may well kill me! (I also have some tasty tarmac rash and am limping a bit - if I was a bit younger this is all I would have and there would have have been no broken bones).
I shall not be out on my bike for a week or two but will try and use the opportunity to lose some weight.Posted 2 months ago # -
This would probably explain the grimace as I pulled your glove off for you.
Get well soon David

Sorry to hear about your mishap Dave, so get well soon and hope to see you riding as strong as ever and putting us younger ones to shame as usual as well as inspiring me to try harder.

Really sorry to hear that Dave, as someone who has recently experienced the joys of breaking bones I can sympathise with you, try and use it as an excuse for your better half to spoil you and an excuse to eat lots of cheese due to the need for Calcium loading.
Have you got a turbo trainer that you can use to keep the legs spinning, if not I'm sure someone in the club will have one that is gathering dust.Keep yer chin up and concentrate on your running for a few weeks.

40 odd miles with a broken arm definitely makes you the new Stuey O Grady of VC Beverley David. Get well soon and hope to see and that snazzy yellow machine back out before long.

Get well soon David, as per Rich's post I've got a mag trainer you are welcome to borrow until you get back on the road.

Echo the replies above Dave. Being flipant, you sure this wasn't caused by a lightweight rider on ultra lightweight bike being knocked over by the breeze! Riding with a broken arm now thats hardcore, Chapeau! Wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you everyone for all your kind words of support. I am now waiting for an operation on the several pieces that once comprised my radius head. They will either try and screw them together, or if they are too decrepit - just throw them away. The options are then to fit a metal replacement or simply leave a hole! In any case the pot will only be on for a few days and I should soon be active again. I have Just been to buy some pyjamas from Tesco in preparation - (do not want to frighten the nurses!).
